Series
Basic Infrared heaters
without any controls built-in. These heaters will always be on with power is
applied. They can be controlled with an ON/OFF switch, or with a HTP-1 Portable
Heater Thermostat (see options at the bottom of this page).
These are the most common heaters
used for horse stalls or wash racks. The standard installation is to install a
switched outlet on the ceiling with either an on/off switch on the wall (for
stalls) or a Timer Switch that will automatically turn off the heater after a
preset time (for wash stalls, tack rooms, etc.).

HTP-1 Portable Heater Thermostat

Operates 1 - 120V Heater Only
Operation
1. Plug the thermostat into an outlet of the
proper voltage for the heating equipment.
2. Plug the heater cord into the receptacle holes
in the thermostat’s plug. If the heater has a built-in on/off switch or heat
regulator, be sure it is in the ON position.
3. With power on, turn thermostat knob toward the
“warmer” position (clockwise) or “cooler” position (counter
clockwise) until the heater goes on. Then adjust, as needed, to set air temperature
at which you want the heater on.

Operation
1. Wire thermostat in series with the electrical
circuit supplying the heater outlets. Be sure to properly ground the thermostat
enclosure and the receptacle.
2. If a power regulator is also wired in the same
circuit, wire the thermostat in series before the power regulator.
3. With power on and all other on—off
switches in the “on” position, turn thermostat knob toward the
“warmer” position (clockwise) until the heater goes on. Then adjust, as
needed, to set the air temperature at which you want the heater to be on.
