HOW THE MKS WORKS:

The female mosquito requires a blood meal to provide protein in order for her eggs to mature.  Heat and Carbon Dioxide are the two main cues that attract the mosquito to their host for this meal.  In the evening, when it starts getting dark, the photocell closes and activates or powers on the unit.  While running, the MKS mimics various mammals by providing a fluctuating heat source and releasing warmed carbon dioxide from the unit.

Seeking the blood meal required for her eggs, the mosquito is attracted to the unit. As the mosquito attempts to probe the skin-like texture of the MKS, they are vacuumed into the unit at the point of entry.  The mosquito is then forced through the unit where they are safely electrocuted and discharged from the bottom of the unit.

  1. Photocell - Activates unit at dusk and powers off at dawn.
  2. Heat Source – Mimics the body temperatures of humans, livestock, poultry, and domestic pets.
  3. Carbon Dioxide - warmed CO2 is released.  Mimics the breathing of warm-blooded mammals. (On 2 minutes off 1.5 minutes for 5 hours.)
  4. Fan – Provides vacuum source to force the mosquito through the unit. (On 1.5 minutes, off 2 minutes.)
  5. Mosquito point of entry
  6. Electrocution Grid – Provides electrical charge to safely eliminate the mosquito.
  7. Safety Guard.
